WWW Wednesday- 20 June 2018

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted on Taking on a World of Words. It involves answering three questions. The three WWWS are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

the dispossessed

I’m currently reading The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin. I just started it so I don’t really have a concrete opinion on it yet. I’m very interested in the anarchist, socialist, and utopian ideas Ursula K. Le Guin might present here, though. I also hear that this book is a sci-fi classic so I’m pretty excited. I’m also reading The Tarot Cafe Manga Collection Vol. 1 by Sang-Sun Park. It’s a manhwa and I actually went through a manga binge-reading phase at one point so I want to get back into those.

Recently Finished

song jesse teller

I recently finished Song by Jesse Teller. You can read my review here. It’s a grimdark fantasy novel and on the short side too, for its subgenre. I can recommend it to beginner readers of grimdark and people who want to get into it, as well as those who are already fans. Another book I read this week is Daughter of Shadow by Tyler Sehn. Review here. It’s also a grimdark fantasy but its longer than Song. I can also recommend it for people who want to read grimdark since the tone isn’t as grim.

Reading Next

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms

This is a tough one. I have so many books on my TBR it was pretty difficult to decide on a book I’m going to read next. The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin has been on my TBR for months now and I have read parts of it so I finally settled on reading it next. I liked what I’ve read and it seems pretty unique and different. After that, I will be reading books I’ve received for review again, beginning with the sequel to Daughter of Shadow, Gods of Rua by Tyler Sehn.

That’s it for my WWW Wednesday! How’s yours going? Please feel free to leave a comment.

  1. The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms was what got me started on a Jemisin binge so I hope you like it! And I admit I still need to read The Dispossessed. I’m more familiar with Le Guin’s fantasy work, but people have been recommending this one left and right, so I’ll need to get to it at some point.

  2. I’m really excited to try out her work! Iiked what little I’ve read and if it works out, I’ll probably hunt down her Broken Earth trilogy in bookstores or just buy it on Kindle.
